How to Apply for Self Sponsored Green Card?

There are mainly two types of applications for self sponsored green cards:

EB-1 Extraordinary Ability

This category includes persons with Extraordinary Ability in the sciences, arts, education, business, or athletics. The applicant must demonstrate extraordinary ability through sustained national or international acclaim.

The most common examples are researchers and academicians. An applicant seeking a national interest waiver may self-petition, meaning he does not need an employer to sponsor him.
